The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, passenger car tyre imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to Spain, together accounting for 44% of total imports. Italy, France, Portugal, Hungary, Serbia, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +15.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
