In value terms, the largest markets for wine exported from Spain were the UK ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), together accounting for 36% of total exports. France, the Netherlands, Canada, China, Belgium, Portugal, Japan, Italy, Cote d'Ivoire and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
Portugal, with a CAGR of +6.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average wine export price amounted to $X per litre, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 24%. The export price peaked at $X per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of wine imported into Spain fell to X litres, waning by -11.8% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X litres), France (X litres) and Portugal (X litres) were the main suppliers of wine imports to Spain, with a combined 72% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +10.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of wine to Spain, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Portugal, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from France stood at +7.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+1.5% per year) and Portugal (-2.3% per year).

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per litre), while the price for Chile ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
