The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -7.6% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 51%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, acetic acid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 82% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Seychelles ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
