The Sri Lankan butter and dairy spreads market shrank sharply to $X in 2022, waning by -30.3% against the previous year. Imports into Sri Lanka

In 2022, approx. X tons of butter and dairy spreads were imported into Sri Lanka; which is down by -30.2% compared with 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 89%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, butter and dairy spreads imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, New Zealand (X tons) constituted the largest butter and dairy spreads supplier to Sri Lanka, with a 45% share of total imports. Among the main suppliers, the UK, with a CAGR of +297.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
