Maldives (X tons) was the main destination for cheese and curd exports from Sri Lanka, with a approx. 99% share of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Austria (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of cheese and curd imports to Sri Lanka, together comprising 83% of total imports. Australia, Denmark and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 9.6%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
