Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 86% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Maldives (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Sri Lanka
In 2021, overseas purchases of concentrated orange juice were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 37%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 33%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Israel (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated orange juice imports to Sri Lanka, with a combined 91% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and Cyprus, which together accounted for a further 8.5%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Egypt (with a CAGR of +40.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest concentrated orange juice suppliers to Sri Lanka were Israel ($X), Pakistan ($X) and South Africa ($X), together comprising 94% of total imports. Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Australia and Cyprus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.8%.
Egypt, with a CAGR of +41.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average concentrated orange juice import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -3.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 132%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($X per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
