Glass Fibre Mat Market Size in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan glass fibre mat market contracted remarkably to $X in 2022, declining by -51.3% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports faced a dramatic contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 915%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Sri Lanka

In 2022, the amount of glass fibre mats imported into Sri Lanka dropped remarkably to X tons, shrinking by -53.2% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 126%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 137%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined sharply in the following year.
