In 2022, shipments abroad of heat exchange units decreased by -98.2% to X units, falling for the fourth year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 650%. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, heat exchange unit exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 378% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Belgium (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of heat exchange unit exports from Sri Lanka.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of 0.0%).

In value terms, the largest markets for heat exchange unit exported from Sri Lanka were Belgium ($X), Singapore ($X) and Maldives ($X), with a combined 99.9% share of total exports.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +21.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average heat exchange unit export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 115% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 124%. Imports into Sri Lanka

In 2022, approx. X units of heat exchange units were imported into Sri Lanka; waning by -27.4% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 203%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, heat exchange unit imports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 192%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United States (X units), China (X units) and India (X units) were the main suppliers of heat exchange unit imports to Sri Lanka, together comprising 68% of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the UK, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +70.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and India ($X) were the largest heat exchange unit suppliers to Sri Lanka, with a combined 68% share of total imports. France, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the UK, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +71.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average heat exchange unit import price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 3.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($X per unit) and India ($X per unit), while the price for Singapore ($X per unit) and the UK ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
