The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 55%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Japan (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of medical instruments imports to Sri Lanka, with a combined 49% share of total imports. China, India, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), Italy and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +52.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country
The average medical instruments import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -5.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were India ($X per ton) and Japan ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
