In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 142%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fruit or nut preserves exports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Australia (X tons), Maldives (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of fruit or nut preserves exports from Sri Lanka, together accounting for 54% of total exports. The UK, the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Kuwait, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.
