Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 231%. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +26.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 148% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 308% against the previous year. In 2022, overseas purchases of sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
India (X tons), China (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather to Sri Lanka, together accounting for 73% of total imports. Turkey, the United States, the UK, Germany and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +82.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather suppliers to Sri Lanka were India ($X), Turkey ($X) and Pakistan ($X), together accounting for 80% of total imports. The UK, China, the United States, Italy and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
