The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X kg in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, faced a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 67%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to No country was relatively modest.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) also remains the key foreign market for non-medical x-rays exports from Sri Lanka.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Singapore totaled -33.3%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2019, the average non-medical x-ray export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Italy.
From 2012 to 2019, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Oman amounted to +41.6% per year.
Non-Medical X-Ray Imports
Imports into Sri Lanka
In 2021, the amount of non-medical x-rays imported into Sri Lanka rose rapidly to X tons, picking up by 9.7% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 119% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 111% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The UK (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Singapore (X kg) were the main suppliers of non-medical x-ray imports to Sri Lanka, together comprising 87% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +195.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($X), Japan ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the largest non-medical x-ray suppliers to Sri Lanka, with a combined 73% share of total imports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +143.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average non-medical x-ray import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+100.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
