Saudi Arabia (X kg) was the main destination for peach and nectarine exports from Sri Lanka, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, peach and nectarine exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahrain (X kg), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Maldives (X kg), with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Saudi Arabia amounted to +702.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+54.8% per year) and Maldives (+21.7% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for peach and nectarine exported from Sri Lanka were Maldives ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Bahrain ($X), together comprising 92% of total exports.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +152.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average peach and nectarine export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -53.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 48%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Maldives ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Sri Lanka
In 2021, supplies from abroad of peaches and nectarines decreased by -33.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports faced a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 88% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, peach and nectarine imports reduced sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 113% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Israel (X kg) constituted the largest peach and nectarine supplier to Sri Lanka, with a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, peach and nectarine imports from Israel exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Australia (X kg), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Israel amounted to -10.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+44.3% per year) and China (-20.8% per year).
In value terms, Israel ($X), Australia ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest peach and nectarine suppliers to Sri Lanka, together comprising 90% of total imports.
Australia, with a CAGR of +55.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Import Prices by Country
The average peach and nectarine import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -9.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
