Imports into Sri Lanka
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus decreased by -49% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
Slovenia (X units), the United States (X units) and India (X units) were the main suppliers of radar apparatus imports to Sri Lanka, together comprising 74% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +189.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
