Maldives (X units), the Philippines (X units) and Japan (X units) were the main destinations of ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp exports from Sri Lanka, with a combined 97% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Maldives (with a CAGR of +74.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp exported from Sri Lanka were Maldives ($X), Japan ($X) and Oman ($X), together comprising 59% of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Maldives, with a CAGR of +89.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp imports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 152%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp supplier to Sri Lanka, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X units), more than tenfold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3% share.

In value terms, the largest ultraviolet, infrared, or arc lamp suppliers to Sri Lanka were Germany ($X), China ($X) and the UK ($X), together comprising 40% of total imports. These countries were followed by Israel, the United States, India, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 23%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +42.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ultraviolet or infrared lamps and arc lamps stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 109%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
