Camel Meat Market Size in Sudan

The Sudanese camel meat market was estimated at $X in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 1,138% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, camel meat exports rose notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 802% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates (X kg) was the main destination for camel meat exports from Sudan, accounting for a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, camel meat exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Oman (X kg), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates totaled -5.0%.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for camel meat exports from Sudan, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United Arab Emirates amounted to -13.2%.

In 2022, the average camel meat export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 10%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
