Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coffee extract imports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2021, Uganda (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of coffee extract to Sudan, with a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, coffee extract imports from Uganda exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Malaysia (X tons), with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Uganda amounted to +8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+53.4% per year) and Malaysia (+16.4% per year).

The average coffee extract import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -4.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 90% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per ton), while the price for Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+18.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
