Sorghum Market Size in Sudan

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Sudanese sorghum market, when its value decreased by -1.1% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a buoyant increase. Sorghum consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sorghum exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 451% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Belgium (X tons) was the main destination for sorghum exports from Sudan, accounting for a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, sorghum exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with an 8.6% share.
