South Africa (X litres) was the main destination for non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from Sudan, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. In 2021, supplies from abroad of non-mineral or non-aerated waters increased by 114% to X litres, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. Imports peaked at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 699% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Uganda (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of non-mineral or non-aerated water to Sudan, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Uganda exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X litres), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X litres), with a 21% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Uganda amounted to -8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+34.9% per year) and Turkey (+21.3% per year).
