In value terms, bumper exports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of bumper exports from Sweden, together accounting for 67% of total exports.

In 2022, overseas purchases of bumpers increased by 0.1% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +6.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, bumper imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +16.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 36%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Norway (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of bumper to Sweden, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, bumper imports from Norway exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Norway amounted to +5.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+15.4% per year) and Poland (+32.7% per year).
In value terms, Norway ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the largest bumper suppliers to Sweden, with a combined 72% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +43.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average bumper import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
