In 2021, the Swedish carbonate market decreased by -35.1% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Belgium (X tons) was the main destination for carbonate exports from Sweden, accounting for a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, carbonate exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Finland (X tons), twofold.
