The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 43%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, fork-lift truck exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Belgium (X units) was the main destination for fork-lift truck exports from Sweden, accounting for a 31% share of total exports. Moreover, fork-lift truck exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X units), with a 6.8% share.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Hungary, with a CAGR of +11.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fork-lift truck export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 25%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fork-lift truck imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and Vietnam (X units) were the main suppliers of fork-lift truck imports to Sweden, with a combined 66% share of total imports. Malaysia, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +78.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fork-lift truck import price decreased by -31.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 69%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
