In general, imports, however, showed a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 470% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, paper and paperboard imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Finland (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of paper and paperboard imports to Sweden, with a combined 61% share of total imports. Ukraine, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Italy, Norway and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
