The UK (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved cows meat exports from Sweden, with a combined 52% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Finland, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Italy, France, the Philippines and Norway, which together accounted for a further 44%.

In 2021, purchases abroad of prepared or preserved meat or offal of bovine animals was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preserved cows meat imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Ireland (X tons) constituted the largest preserved cows meat supplier to Sweden, with a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved cows meat imports from Ireland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Ireland amounted to +13.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+22.2% per year) and Germany (-7.8% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Ireland amounted to +12.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Denmark (-9.0% per year) and Poland (+26.1% per year).
