The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 44%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Finland (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) were the main destinations of silicon dioxide exports from Sweden, together comprising 66% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Denmark, Japan, Singapore, Germany and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 30%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, silicon dioxide imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 9.5% against the previous year. In 2021, Norway (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of silicon dioxide to Sweden, with a 62% share of total imports.
