Exports by Country
Denmark (X tons) was the main destination for soya bean exports from Sweden, with a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, soya bean exports to Denmark exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hungary (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 15% share.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) remains the key foreign market for soya bean exports from Sweden, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Denmark totaled +70.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+25.8% per year) and Hungary (+7.2% per year).

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of soya beans were imported into Sweden; surging by 7.7% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -10.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soya bean imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 49%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Kazakhstan (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of soya bean imports to Sweden, together accounting for 92% of total imports. The Netherlands, China and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.1%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +49.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Denmark ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest soya bean suppliers to Sweden, with a combined 86% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, China and Germany, which together accounted for a further 13%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
