After five years of growth, the Swiss table-tennis equipment market decreased by -16.8% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. In value terms, table-tennis equipment exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 375% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for table-tennis equipment exports from Switzerland, accounting for a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, table-tennis equipment exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Serbia (X kg), eightfold. Italy (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.3% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +32.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, table-tennis equipment imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell significantly in the following year.
