Overall, exports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 38%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, baby clothes exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of baby clothes exports from Switzerland, together comprising 63% of total exports. Austria, the Netherlands, Italy and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +68.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for baby clothes exported from Switzerland were Germany ($X), Poland ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 73% share of total exports. Austria, the Netherlands, France and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of babies clothing and accessories (not knitted or crocheted) decreased by -2.2% to X tons, falling for the sixth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 4.7%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, baby clothes imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 7.9%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

China (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of baby clothes imports to Switzerland, with a combined 73% share of total imports. Turkey, Vietnam, Myanmar, Italy, Germany, Madagascar and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Myanmar (with a CAGR of +59.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest baby clothes suppliers to Switzerland were China ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and India ($X), together comprising 67% of total imports. Italy, Vietnam, Turkey, Germany, Madagascar, Myanmar and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +60.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average baby clothes import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
