The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X units), Germany (X units) and China (X units) were the main destinations of check valve exports from Switzerland, together comprising 51% of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Taiwan (Chinese), Canada, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Australia, Spain, Saudi Arabia and India, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +18.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average check valve export price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 27%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Switzerland
In 2021, check valve imports into Switzerland skyrocketed to X units, rising by 61% on the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, check valve imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X units), Italy (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main suppliers of check valve imports to Switzerland, with a combined 67% share of total imports. China, France, the Czech Republic, the United States, Turkey and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +45.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats to Switzerland, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany amounted to +2.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-3.4% per year) and Italy (+4.6% per year).

In 2021, the average check valve import price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -29.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
