For the third year in a row, Switzerland recorded decline in overseas purchases of construction sands, which decreased by -1.5% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, construction sands imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
