France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of handmade paper exports from Switzerland, with a combined 74% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Austria, China, Thailand and the United States, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +63.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 176%. In 2021, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of handmade paper to Switzerland, accounting for a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, handmade paper imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), ninefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.7% share.
