Spain (X tons) was the main destination for lactam exports from Switzerland, accounting for a 31% share of total exports. Moreover, lactam exports to Spain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X tons), threefold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.6% share.

Overall, imports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 210% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, lactam imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 146%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of lactam imports to Switzerland, together comprising 56% of total imports. France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Ireland and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.
