Mattress Market Size in Switzerland

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Swiss mattress market, when its value decreased by -11.6% to $X. In general, the total consumption indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. After two years of growth, purchases abroad of mattresses decreased by -14.6% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, mattress imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2022, Germany (X units) constituted the largest mattress supplier to Switzerland, with a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, mattress imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X units), twofold. Austria (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
