The Swiss memories market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. Memories imports into Switzerland soared to X units in 2021, growing by 43% against the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +44.6% against 2019 indices. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, memories imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Thailand (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of memories imports to Switzerland, together accounting for 56% of total imports. Singapore, the Philippines, Germany, France, the United States, the Netherlands and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +21.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest memories suppliers to Switzerland were Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 55% share of total imports. Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, the United States, France, Malaysia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +19.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average memories import price amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
