Germany (X units) was the main destination for semiconductor device exports from Switzerland, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, semiconductor device exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), fourfold. The United States (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.8% share.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 63% against the previous year. In general, imports recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 46%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, semiconductor device imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

China (X units), Italy (X units) and Austria (X units) were the main suppliers of semiconductor device imports to Switzerland, together accounting for 67% of total imports.
