Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X tons) was the main destination for shelled hazelnut exports from Switzerland, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, shelled hazelnut exports to Turkey exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), more than tenfold. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, shelled hazelnut imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 38%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest shelled hazelnut supplier to Switzerland, with a 88% share of total imports.
