The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

France (X tons) was the main destination for pasta products exports from Tanzania, with a 47% share of total exports. Moreover, pasta products exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Africa (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to France amounted to +112.3%.

In value terms, France ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products exports from Tanzania, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 0.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to France amounted to +81.3%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average pasta products export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Comoros (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Tanzania

Pasta products imports into Tanzania soared to X tons in 2022, jumping by 111% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, faced a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 194% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pasta products imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 115%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Kenya (X tons), India (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of pasta products imports to Tanzania, together accounting for 65% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Kenya (with a CAGR of +44.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Kenya ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dried, undried and frozen pasta and pasta products to Tanzania, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 9.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Kenya stood at +45.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-12.8% per year) and Turkey (-24.9% per year).

In 2022, the average pasta products import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -11.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+48.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
