In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 660%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Kenya (X units) was the main destination for non-electric industrial furnace exports from Tanzania, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric industrial furnace exports to Kenya exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uganda (X units), fourfold. South Africa (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kenya stood at +15.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uganda (-14.9% per year) and South Africa (0.0% per year).
In value terms, Kenya ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens exports from Tanzania, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Burundi ($X), with a 1.1% share of total exports. It was followed by South Africa, with a 0.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Kenya amounted to +76.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Burundi (+41.7% per year) and South Africa (+44.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average non-electric industrial furnace export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 172%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Comoros ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cameroon (+63,950.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Tanzania
In 2022, non-electric industrial furnace imports into Tanzania dropped sharply to X units, shrinking by -60.8% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 344% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 401%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of non-electric industrial furnace to Tanzania, with a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electric industrial furnace imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Croatia (X units), with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +12.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+7.0% per year) and Croatia (+1.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens to Tanzania, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Croatia ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +12.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Croatia (+4.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+50.7% per year).

In 2022, the average non-electric industrial furnace import price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
