Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic sanitary ware exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Ethiopia (X units) was the main destination for plastic sanitary ware exports from Tanzania, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic sanitary ware exports to Ethiopia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Rwanda (X units), threefold. Zambia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ethiopia totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Rwanda (X% per year) and Zambia (X% per year).
In value terms, Ethiopia ($X), Rwanda ($X) and Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for plastic sanitary ware exported from Tanzania worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malawi ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Madagascar (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Tanzania
In 2022, overseas purchases of plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar sanitary ware decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic sanitary ware imports declined notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and India (X units) were the main suppliers of plastic sanitary ware imports to Tanzania, together comprising X% of total imports. Turkey, Malaysia, Taiwan (Chinese), Italy, Japan, Morocco, Germany, Portugal, South Africa and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plastic baths, wash-basins, lavatory pans and covers and similar sanitary ware to Tanzania, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an X% share.
