From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes decreased by -30.4% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 80%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, prepared additives for cements imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of prepared additives for cements to Tanzania, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, prepared additives for cements imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +39.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+4.1% per year) and Turkey (+42.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes to Tanzania, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +36.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+4.4% per year) and Turkey (+52.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average prepared additives for cements import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 60% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible descent. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
