In value terms, sawnwood (non-coniferous) exports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 52%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
India (X cubic meters) was the main destination for sawnwood (non-coniferous) exports from Tanzania, accounting for a 50% share of total exports. In 2022, purchases abroad of sawnwood (non-coniferous) increased by 49% to X cubic meters, rising for the fourth year in a row after four years of decline. In general, imports saw temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 86%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sawnwood (non-coniferous) imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 104%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
