The average hand stamp export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 61% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Zimbabwe (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+388.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, approx. X units of stamps for use in the hand were imported into Tanzania; rising by 186% on the year before. In general, imports recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 974% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, hand stamp imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 435% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of hand stamp to Tanzania, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, hand stamp imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), threefold. Austria (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Taiwan (Chinese) amounted to +36.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+13.9% per year) and India (+46.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average hand stamp import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -3.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 138%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while the price for Japan (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
