Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 163%. Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) was the main destination for exports of tyres for agriculture, forestry, construction, industry and other off the road vehicles from Tanzania, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of tyres for agriculture, forestry, construction, industry and other off the road vehicles to Democratic Republic of the Congo exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malawi (X units), sixfold. Gabon (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.

In value terms, the largest markets for agricultural, construction and industrial machinery tyre exported from Tanzania were Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), Egypt ($X) and Malawi ($X), with a combined 94% share of total exports. Gabon, Comoros and Zambia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.2%.
Comoros, with a CAGR of +43.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for tyres for agriculture, forestry, construction, industry and other off the road vehicles amounted to $X per unit, falling by -15.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 219% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malawi ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+45.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Tanzania
In 2022, approx. X units of tyres for agriculture, forestry, construction, industry and other off the road vehicles were imported into Tanzania; growing by 53% against the previous year. Overall, imports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Japan (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +37.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+19.1% per year) and Japan (-5.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest agricultural, construction and industrial machinery tyre suppliers to Tanzania were India ($X), Japan ($X) and China ($X), together comprising 75% of total imports. Turkey, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.4%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +42.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for tyres for agriculture, forestry, construction, industry and other off the road vehicles amounted to $X per unit, declining by -31.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
