The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 602% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Korea (X tons) was the main destination for unwrought zinc alloys exports from Tanzania, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, unwrought zinc alloys exports to South Korea exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to South Korea was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+25.5% per year) and Uganda (+13.1% per year).

In value terms, South Korea ($X), India ($X) and Uganda ($X) constituted the largest markets for unwrought zinc alloys exported from Tanzania worldwide.

India, with a CAGR of +27.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+10.0%).

As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 183% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest unwrought zinc alloys supplier to Tanzania, accounting for a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, unwrought zinc alloys imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), fivefold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium stood at +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-26.1% per year) and South Africa (+30.8% per year).

In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of unwrought zinc alloys to Tanzania, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 16% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium totaled +6.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-23.9% per year) and South Africa (+22.1% per year).

Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
