The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 96% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for aluminium tube exports from Thailand, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, aluminium tube exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Japan (X tons), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States totaled +59.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-14.8% per year) and Japan (+22.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for aluminium tube exported from Thailand were the United States ($X), Poland ($X) and Japan ($X), together accounting for 74% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Poland, with a CAGR of +192.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of aluminium tubes and pipes decreased by -19.5% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 103%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium tube imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium tube to Thailand, accounting for a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, aluminium tube imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-4.4% per year) and Germany (+60.0% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium tubes and pipes to Thailand, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with an 8.5% share of total imports.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
