In general, exports recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced declined dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia (X square meters) was the main destination for exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced from Thailand, with a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (X square meters), threefold. Cambodia, Myanmar, Maldives and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +84.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average export price for boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced amounted to $X per square meter, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per square meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of boards, sheets, panels, tiles and similar articles of plaster not faced into Thailand skyrocketed to X square meters, growing by 34% compared with the year before. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 208% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
