For the third year in a row, Thailand recorded growth in shipments abroad of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates, which increased by 21% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 677% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 206%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Vietnam (X tons) was the main destination for chlorates, bromates and iodates exports from Thailand, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, chlorates, bromates and iodates exports to Vietnam exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X tons), with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Vietnam stood at +57.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+3.0% per year) and India (+144.8% per year).

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the key foreign market for chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates exports from Thailand, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Vietnam amounted to +44.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (+2.0% per year) and Indonesia (+1.4% per year).

The average chlorates, bromates and iodates export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 272%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of chlorates and perchlorates, bromates and perbromates, iodates and periodates imported into Thailand amounted to X tons, flattening at the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 18%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chlorates, bromates and iodates imports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Finland (X tons) were the main suppliers of chlorates, bromates and iodates imports to Thailand, with a combined 66% share of total imports. The United States, France, Sweden and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +155.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Canada ($X) and Finland ($X) appeared to be the largest chlorates, bromates and iodates suppliers to Thailand, with a combined 63% share of total imports. The United States, France, Sweden and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
