For the third year in a row, the Thai coal other than lingite market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 26% to $X in 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Cambodia totaled +61.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lao People's Democratic Republic (+93.5% per year) and Indonesia (+48.9% per year).

In value terms, Cambodia ($X) remains the key foreign market for coal other than lingites exports from Thailand, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bahrain ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cambodia stood at +65.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+7.7% per year) and Indonesia (+53.0% per year).

The average coal other than lingite export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, coal other than lingite imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Indonesia (X tons) constituted the largest coal other than lingite supplier to Thailand, accounting for a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, coal other than lingite imports from Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Australia (X tons), threefold. The Philippines (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Indonesia was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+4.4% per year) and the Philippines (+16.0% per year).

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of coal other than lingites to Thailand, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Indonesia stood at +5.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+7.8% per year) and Russia (+68.7% per year).

In 2022, the average coal other than lingite import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 67% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed prominent growth. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
