Brazil (X units), Japan (X units) and Australia (X units) were the main destinations of horizontal machining centre exports from Thailand, together comprising 79% of total exports. These countries were followed by China, Turkey, Indonesia, the United States and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of horizontal machining centres for working metal, when their volume increased by 16% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 41%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, horizontal machining centre imports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Japan (X units) constituted the largest supplier of horizontal machining centre to Thailand, accounting for a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, horizontal machining centre imports from Japan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), threefold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Japan amounted to -15.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (-12.5% per year) and China (+15.9% per year).

In 2021, the average horizontal machining centre import price amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -21.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 28%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
