In value terms, metal flexible tubing exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 59%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Japan (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) were the main destinations of metal flexible tubing exports from Thailand, with a combined 65% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +87.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the key foreign market for iron or steel flexible tubing exports from Thailand, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Myanmar ($X), with a 7.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 6.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Japan amounted to +3.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Myanmar (+61.1% per year) and Vietnam (+53.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average metal flexible tubing export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +6.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lao People's Democratic Republic (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Thailand
In 2021, metal flexible tubing imports into Thailand shrank significantly to X tons, with a decrease of -17.5% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, metal flexible tubing imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest metal flexible tubing supplier to Thailand, with a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, metal flexible tubing imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), fourfold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +18.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+92.8% per year) and Japan (+11.3% per year).
In value terms, Japan ($X), China ($X) and Malaysia ($X) appeared to be the largest metal flexible tubing suppliers to Thailand, with a combined 71% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +117.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average metal flexible tubing import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 51% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
